Chapter 83: Help on it way part 4

[Nar point of view]

"What did I do? I didn't do anything wrong"

"Shut up! Because of you, because of you, our little sister was kidnapped!" [Nar]

"Don't break him too much, at least not before I get my fair share of the beating" [Sas]

"Nar, Sas! That's enough. If you go on like this, they will only get further away!" [Jean]

"Tsk... Good point. Take him and lock him away in the prison!" [Nar]

"Yes... Yes, sir!"

I let go of the corrupted guard. His teeth are on the floor, blood all over him. He's trying to make sense of what's happening, no, more than that, his face is the face of someone resigned to his fate, realizing what will happen to him in the future. The other guards, confused, do what I tell them to do as they carry them into a room, treating him first while handcuffing him. I can see that some of his friends have a look of terror on their faces, and I'm sure that they are conspirators as well. Seeing Aeron's disgust, I let him do the rest here. I'm sure that as the captain of the strongest unit in Amleth, he couldn't turn his back on a corrupt unit.

Our unit, which will rescue Diana and others, consists mainly of knights and adventurers. So far, we divide ourselves into three groups

1. Alaric and others, investigating the place where Diana and Marianne's brother were beaten for more clues. Cardinal Davis are also there to help

2. Aeron and his unit, arrest the corrupt guards who are conspiring

3. Me and the other, largest unit of all. According to the latest information, these people will be meeting up with other traders, so we need more manpower to catch them all.

According to Merlin, they will be joined by more and more illegal traders along the way. Before they cross the border and complicate our rescue, we will intercept them, best before midnight!" [Nar]

I left out one detail on purpose, and that's the organizations that we're going after as Special Knights of Amleth. The one who knocked out Diana had the blessing of THE THING, according to Merlin. Since this is still considered a state secret and there are still some who don't know, I thought it best not to mention it, but for those who already know, I'm sure they figured it out without my help.

At noon, with the son scorching hot, we quickly move out. According to the forecast of the Ministry of Nature, there is a high chance of thunderstorms during the night, so we all brought our special coats.

Thanks to God's blessing of the wind cast by Jean, not only our movement speed increases, our stamina consumption decreases, and in this hot weather, having this gentle breeze on our side is nothing but a God-send.

As we enter the road leading to the land of Emas, a familiar tree greets us all. Of course, for those who have never seen it before, they quickly stand on guard and prepare to fight at a moment's notice, but for others

Seeing how the Hanging Treant communicates with Elegast, they quickly realized that this Hanging Treant is an ally. Even though the face on the tree is that of an old elf, it's still a monster that many fear. It's an understandable reaction, and I'm sure this Hanging Treant would forgive them, considering it's a saint in its previous life.

"Considering how the Hanging Treant is able to communicate with the forest itself, I'm sure any ambushes against us will be nothing" [Linda].

The Hanging Treant isn't as agile as the rest of us, so our overall movement speed is reduced, but considering the many benefits he brings to us, any wise leader wouldn't object to having him on the team. Through Elegast, the Hanging Treant mentioned that the forest is currently tracking Diana's whereabouts, making things much easier for us. The Hanging Treant will let us know which road the carriage will take and, if possible, create a natural road for us to avoid any difficult terrain.

"Monsters ahead! Judging by the smell, it's a group of rouge goblins!" [Kat]

"No need to hesitate, we will charge through!" [Nar]

Since it's a group of about thirty goblins, I don't need everyone on the offensive side, so Sas and I just slash through them. Me with my sword and Sas with his fire spell. If we are adventurers, we will stop to collect the loot left behind, but time is of the essence.

"Hmm... There's a trace of low-level monster attractor in it... Could it be..." [Linda]

Even though the Hanging Treant is doing just that, the monster strangely keeps coming our way. Elegast suspects a powerful monster tamer and an elf, or possibly an elf who's a monster tamer, is responsible. If so, I'm sure it's all being done by the organization we're tracking.

"They keep coming!" [Ledang]

"And the storm didn't slow them down" [Mahsuri]

"I'm glad there are no casualties on our side so far" [Jean]

"Still, we are behind schedule, if this continues..." [Sas]

"What? A landslide blocking their way?" [Elegast]

Good news from the Hanging Treant. However, considering that one of them is from Aru Village, I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to clear the landslide before we arrived. They're wild, yes, but their strength is not to be underestimated.

The thunderstorm is getting stronger and stronger. It is getting darker and darker and it will be difficult to move forward. Thanks to Sas, Jean, Linda and some others who cast light magic, it becomes a little easier to navigate. The monster keeps coming, but we all keep pushing through. She seems to be struggling, her breathing is disordered, and it takes everything she has just to stand still, and yet she's still fighting.

"DIANA!" [Nar, Sas]

"Brother Nar! Brother Sas!" [Diana]
