Chapter 70: Diana "vs" Master Merlin

A special test, just for me. Interesting is what I wanted to say, but

"I don't want to... I feel like I will fail" [Diana].

"All right, this student gave up before the exam even started, so her grade is..." [Merlin]

"Alright! Alright! I will do it!" [Diana]

It feels unfair! I can easily pass this test if it's done normally, but now I have to take this bottle of mana from Master Merlin, someone who's a living legend, someone who knows Fairy Queen Titania personally, someone who teaches Auntie Amleth before she teaches me. The more I think about it, the more I think it's impossible... I have no motivation now...

(DEAL!) [Diana]

Master Merlin's sudden telepathy shook me, but now my motivation increases! It's still kind of unfair, but it is what it is.

I don't think I can get the bottle without going all out, so the first thing I do is get my wand made from the World Tree. When I take my wand from the item slot

"Steal" [Merlin].

Master Merlin quickly used a steal spell, and with that, the wand found itself right next to Master Merlin. She grinned as if trying to hold back her laughter, probably her reaction to seeing my shocked face.

Without my wand, the next thing I do is to use a physical enhancement spell and quickly increase my physical strength. I don't think I can reach Aura yet, but this is the best I can do.

Wind, lightning and explosion boosters, all set to increase my speed from the moment I start sprinting. I'm not sure how fast I'm going, but apparently it's not fast enough to catch her off-guard, since she predicted my movement. Especially when she lightly knocks me out with her fist. It doesn't hurt at all, but I'm still bitter, but at least I managed to get my wand back.

"Grr... Space magic : Telepor..." [Diana]

"Cancel!" [Merlin]

"That's! That's not fair!" [Diana]

All right, don't use any kind of space magic, and maybe don't use any variation of it like light, holy and it's equivalent, otherwise she'll just take advantage of it. On another note, she's a witch, maybe anything related to soul magic isn't good either, which means Mirage spell is out of the equation as well.

Next, Earth Magic! I made a hole right under her, but she just used her space magic to float! How annoying, so I changed my tactics!

"I'm going all out now! Ice Chandelier! Burn with flames of fire, water, lightning, and darkness!" [Diana]

"Hoo..." [Merlin]

The Ice Chandelier forms just above her, and with it, flames made of various elements. As I expected, she simply used her space magic to move the spell somewhere else, but

"Nice try, trying to catch me off guard" [Merlin].

"Not yet! Wind Magic: Tear Gas!" [Diana]

When she used her space magic, I rushed to her side again, trying to grab the bottle. She managed to dodge, but of course she will, so I used tear gas to block her vision with her own tear! Since that was almost a direct hit, I thought I had actually succeeded, but

"MARIONETTE!?" [Diana]

"Poor little Diana" [Merlin]

"Master Merlin, don't run away so easily!" [Merlin]

Just as I finish my sentence, the Marionette hugs me tightly and prevents me from moving. But that's not all.

"My mana!" [Diana]

"Yup. Better think fast or your mana will be sucked dry by my lovely Marionette." [Merlin]

(This feels like she's going too far...) [Tiara]

I don't think I'll be able to shake this Marionette off so easily, so I'll prepare a powerful blast spell and shoot it from the sky above me, towards myself, just to destroy the Marionette. I'm sure Master Merlin will react by protecting me and the puppet, and when she does, that will be my signal to actually get close to her.

"Now!" [Diana]

Now that the explosion had gone off and she had used her space magic to swallow the explosion magic, I used a short teleportation spell to escape the Marionette's tight embrace and tried to grab the bottle right next to her! I almost, almost caught her off guard as I can actually touch the bottle, but before I do

"No more energy... No more mana..." [Diana].

"That's too bad, and time is already up..." [Merlin]

"My cake..." [Diana]

Wait, more important than the cake

"I fail..." [Diana]

"Not really. I'll just subtract fifteen points from the full grade, otherwise you'll still get the highest grade for the magic exam of all the students in the entire year" [Merlin].

At least I didn't fail. Thank goodness.
