Chapter 60: Investigation part 1

[Nar point of view]

"And that's why I wanted to go there and investigate with you two, please!" [Diana]

"Denied" [Sas]

"WHY!?" [Diana]

"Isn't it obvious, it's too dangerous!" [Nar]

"But I helped defeat the Chimera! Surely I can still be useful" [Diana]

"Still denied" [Sas]

"This is unfair!" [Diana]

"Now, how about the three of you calm down a bit" [Jean]

After much persuasion, not only by the three of us, but also by the head maid and Ledang, we finally persuaded Diana to stay at home, but since she's sulking to no end, Jean suggested that she stay with Liya and the other, so she wouldn't feel lonely. A group made up of the Church Official, Knights of Amleth and the Adventure Guild was quickly formed by order of Her Highness Queen Amleth. Its purpose is to investigate the lair that produced the Chimera that attacked the place where the noble students had made their trip. Inevitably, speculation followed speculation, with some suggesting it was nothing more than a freak of nature, while others bluntly accused several people, from the Emperor to the Saint, and even the Beast King.

The parents involved in the incident have demanded explanation after explanation, and they are seething with anger that their heir was needlessly exposed to such danger, which is why the witch Merlin and the former princess of the Empire Tiara are not here with us, as they are dealing with the complaints filed against the school.

Personally, I am just glad that Diana and the others are unharmed. My feelings are shared by Sas, as our hearts actually stopped when we heard what happened, and even when she successfully helped defeat the Chimera, instead of praising her action, we can't help but sigh and scold her a bit for her recklessness. It's understandable that she would sulk afterwards, but

And there goes his infamous scolding. I'm sure there isn't an Amlethian who doesn't know of Cardinal Davis' infamous scolding. From twisting our ears to forcing us to kneel for hours while he quoted multiple lines from religion to other philosophers, every single soul in Amleth must have experienced it at some point in their lives. Well, Diana hasn't yet... I just hoped that the girl won't run away when the time comes, or else she'll make it even worse... For Sas and me

"Is that the Hanging Treant that was in the report?" [Elegast].

"That's the one. I'm glad I got Diana to talk to him the other day, otherwise our investigation would be over before it even started" [Randy].

"Shall we go then?" [Nar]

Elegast's comment stopped the Cardinal's scolding, and we all looked out the window, where we could see a Hanging Treant, a large one even by the standards of its kind, waiting patiently for us.
