Chapter 54: Trip part 4

Second day, and with Kara, Mara and Marianne leading the way, we are all working together. Our team is doing well, too well in fact, that the six of us are starting to feel sorry for other. Some groups don't even have a proper shade until I came to lend a helping hand and it clicked for Marianne, there is no rule that says no working together between different groups.

"Tio, Neloufa and Stacy, can you three lead the cooking team" [Kara].

"We will" "I'll do my best" "This should be fun" [Tio] [Neloufa] [Stacy]

"Adnan and Diana, can you lead the team to find food?" [Mara]

"Aye Aye Captain" "Will do" [Diana] [Adnan]

"I will lead for our shade. First we need to find a perfect place" [Marianne].

"How about we just choose the center of this field. We will build a fireplace in the middle and make a shade around the fireplace" [Auger].

(Looks like things are doing well) [Kat]

Tio, Neloufa, and the brown-haired girl with the glass named Stacy are trying to skin the adult deer that was stored yesterday. Since they're having a hard time pulling the deer out at all, I just lift it first with my magic. Some of them are boiling the water, while others are washing the herbs. Those who will cut the deer are sharpening their knives.

As for Marianne and the son of an earl Auger, they're discussing the shade that will be our roof for tonight. Since most of them, no, since I am the only one with perfect magic control among all of us, they first thought to ask for my help, but instead Marianne came up with a solution. They will make a shade using any big leaves as a roof, put them in an inclined position and connect them together, forming a big circle, and in the middle will be the fireplace for cooking and warming at night. Of course, there will be a partition between the boys and girls. Their group will have the largest number of students, so to make things easier, they further divided their group.

Adnan and I, along with a few others, will be looking for food in the forest. Most of my team are sons of knights, they're tougher than most. Kara and Mara also noticed that most of them were doing pretty well yesterday.

We all agree to go to the nearest river to get some water. Besides, there's one of us who really likes fishing. Yesterday he caught a pretty big fresh fish, bigger than the one I brought, and so he and another helper will concentrate only on fishing.

Adnan then divided us into two groups, one for hunting and one for picking fruits and herbs. I thought I would be the one to do the hunting, but they all disagreed.

"Your knowledge of herbs and fruits is just amazing" [Adnan].

"We heard all the teachers, knights, and adventurers praising you yesterday.

"I'm sure you got a perfect grade yesterday, so wouldn't it be better to let you handle it?"

"Alright, but you should all collect some fruits and mushrooms as well, and before we leave the forest, just show me all the things you collected, that way none of us will have our grades deducted" [Diana].

"A wise decision" [Adnan].

And we split up. Some of them wanted to help me, they are fully aware of what I am capable of, and they knew I was better at magic than them, but they were talking about some knightly chivalry. They started arguing about who would be the one to "escort" me. Too bad, I just don't care and I leave while they argue among themselves.

As I collect some honey from a honey tree, a bee tells me that a hanging treant actually found a clue to what I was looking for yesterday.

"Hanging treant?" [Diana]

Is it a combination of a treant and a hanging tree? I asked the bee

"It's an old treant that was used by humans and elves to hang their prisoners. The treant loves to feed on the flesh of the newly dead prisoner. Fortunately for us, one of the saints of an elven tribe was wrongly hanged, and his soul makes the treant sentient and a good treant. Since he's also a hanging tree, we all call him a hanging treant".

"I see. What did he say?" [Diana]

"Well..."

I see. I see.

"Tell the Hanging Treant that I will speak with a witch named Merlin. Tell him that I, Diana, someone blessed by Titania, tell him that he has done a good job" [Diana].

"Right!"

And the bee quickly does the job. As for me, once I have collected a satisfactory amount of food, I go back with Adnan and the others. Of course, I throw away anything dangerous that they brought with them, and it's surprisingly little. In fact, I throw away only seven poisonous mushrooms, as they are very similar to the non-poisonous ones.

When we arrived at the camp, we further divided ourselves to help each other. I wanted to help the cooking team, but Marianne and Auger drag me to finish reinforcing the shade we will use for tonight.

After we have all had our dinner, Kara, Mara and Marianne tell us what we will be doing tomorrow. It's basically the same, but since tomorrow will be our last day, they emphasize cleaning up the campground. None of us objects. As the night got darker, most of us went to bed early. As for me, I went to the group of teachers who were grading us.

"Is something wrong Diana?" [Tiara]

"Master Merlin, may I speak with you for a moment?" [Diana]

"Oh dear, has something happened my dear?" [Merlin]

"Something big. Something related to what we discussed at the Adventure Guild." [Diana]

"Understood" [Merlin]

"Then Randy and I will join as well" [Linda]

"No argument there" [Randy]

"Please, allow me to join as well" [Tiara]

"If you insist" [Diana]

The five of us went to a corner, and as soon as Master Merlin used a barrier spell to prevent any peaking, I told them what the hanging treant found.

"This is..." [Tiara]

"It's always them." [Randy]

"What do you expect, they're nothing but a troublemaker" [Linda]

"What are we going to do?" [Diana]

"Let's see..." [Merlin]
