Chapter 5: Journey to the Capital of Amleth

The sun is up, the bird chirping here and there, as they fly and play around in the bright blue sky without care. The smell of flower dew entice me, as I pick it up and drink the morning dew. Sweet! Very sweet. I didn't know that a flower morning dew can be this good!

"Don't eat strange things!" [Nar]

"But it's so sweet" [Diana]

(Must be because of the fairy blessing, she has more fairy-like traits than me) [Amleth]

Nar tried to pick me up and put me in Aunt Amleth's carriage. It's big and soft and looks expensive. I can't help but admire every inch of it, but first

"I'm gonna change my clothes first!" [Diana]

I used Space Magic to store all the clothes the fairy gave me. I just put it all in, thinking it would sort itself out, but the clothes came out all at once, in a messy way. Once again I am reminded that there is a difference between being able to use magic and being able to use magic properly.

"You are a talented magician. As expected from the people of Aru Village" [Sas]

During the adoption talk yesterday (which ended with me making a fuss) they found out that I come from Aru Village. Their description of the history of the village, its location and our relationship with the fairies is very similar to what my parents told me. I only refer to the village as a village, I don't even know that the village has a name.

I changed into something similar to what Auntie Amleth was wearing and began to compare our dress from top to bottom. Of course, her dress won. The sky blue of my dress pales in comparison, but somehow...

"Our clothes are really similar!" [Diana]

"I was thinking the same thing" (So she must have gotten this cloth from her. I wonder if she's doing fine.) [Amleth]

"It makes me happy that we share a similar looking cloth. This will be my second favourite cloth from now on!" [Diana]

Of course, the red dress that resembles the fairy queen Titania is still the best. But for today, I feel like dressing like Auntie Amleth

One of the soldiers at the front, known as the scout, signals that all is well and that we can start moving. The strong, mighty thunder unicorn that carries the carriage lets out a powerful neigh and starts to move. According to Jean, who is sitting with us, the royal thunder unicorn's neighing will also cause other nearby monsters to flee.

"Diana, why don't you tell us more about your plan" [Amleth]

"My plan?" [Diana]

What plan?

"Of course, a kid like you won't have one" [Sas]

"I'm not a kid! Of course I have a plan!" [Diana]

"Liar" [Sas]

"Hahahaha. Yeah, you suck at lying" [Nar]

"Am not!" [Diana]

"Oh, so you admit that you don't have one" [Nar]

"I... I do!" [Diana]

Think. Think fast

"My plan is... Um... Be rich?" [Diana]

"Queen Amleth meant to say, do you know where you'll be staying next, with whom. How long and how will you manage your daily core" [Jean].

Ohh... That's what she meant, in which case

"Be rich and get a servant to do everything!" [Diana]

Aunt Amleth tried to hold back her laughter, Jean and Nar let out a long sigh with their hand on their foreheads, while Sas continued to belittle me.

"You should really consider having one of us as your guardian" [Jean].

"Then I want Auntie Amleth" [Diana]

"Royalty can't adopt anyone, I'm so sorry, little one" [Amleth]

"Then I don't want it!" [Diana]

"Why not?" [Sas]

Sas asks with a serious tone

"I've heard that nobles sell their children for money and power. I don't want that!" [Diana]

"Fair enough" [Nar, Sas].

Nar and Sas keep nodding their heads, confirming what I heard from the drunkards in Aru Village.

"Nar! Sas! Don't teach Diana strange thing! And mind your word in front of Her Highness, and that includes you Diana!" [Jean]

The coach moves at a good pace. The road is in good condition, but sitting for so long makes my body ache, and I instinctively hover, go outside without permission and sleep on the back of the Thunder Unicorn. I stretch my arms and legs to get rid of the pain. The thunder unicorn, knowing that I am now riding him, lets out a neigh, a welcoming one. In response, I use my wind magic to pluck a wild carrot from the side of the road and try to feed it to him, but it refuses. I have a feeling he is a fussy eater.

~Inside the carriage~

""Your Highness, Diana... is special" [Nar].

"True. The way she uses all her magic effortlessly speaks of her talent" [Sas]

"I can see why you ask Nar to adopt her" [Jean]

The four adults are discussing the girl blessed by the fairies. She is indeed special, but that's not the only reason the queen has asked one of her most trusted retainers to adopt her.

Three other reasons, one being that she knows that the girl, like herself, is blessed by the fairies, and the other being that she's simply worried about the girl, who is similar in age to her own daughter. The last one is

"Nar, Sas. When the time come, I will tell you why I asked both of you siblings to accept my proposal of nobility, and why I asked the both of you to adopt her. For now, trust me" [Queen Amleth]

"Yes, Your Highness " [Nar, Sas]

They wanted to continue the conversation when suddenly

"What a big wall! And is that a castle!' [Diana]

Diana's cries of excitement and curiosity send them peering out the window. They realise they're finally home after the nerve-wracking treaty with the Emperor.
