Chapter 49: Magic session at school

It's magic training, and instead of Nar and Sas, this time I'm with the other classmates, together with this muscular teacher. His voice is loud, his face is stern, and his appearance is unfriendly, which makes the others straighten their backs, and as for me

"I wonder what lunch will be served today?" [Diana]

"You there, don't laze around! As a punishment, you will start the training by destroying this puppet!"

He begins to ramble on about how impressive this puppet is. It's made by those from the Ministry of Magic, how it's the culmination of a generation of the best magic users who poured their hearts and souls into making what's in front of us today. He said that, and maybe I'm imagining it, but somehow he looks like he's about to cry with pride and joy when he explains about the puppet.

This session is to prepare us all for the upcoming trip. A one-day, one-night journey just outside the walls. It's a special test to determine our magical abilities, our decision making, our cooperation with each other, and more. I heard that Master Merlin and Ms. Tiara will be there to evaluate us.

Speaking of Ms. Tiara, I still can't believe she volunteered to help us all. She's curious about why her father, Emperor Justin, wants to sacrifice her. She's also curious as to why a curse from THE THING lingers around her. I'm sure Master Merlin will do a great job of protecting her. After all, Master Merlin is the strongest person I know besides Nar and Sas, but that doesn't mean that I'm not worried about her, who is freely exposing herself.

"Now cast your best spell and shoot at it!"

"Yes. So hungry..." [Diana]

"Don't slack off!"

"Yes... Ice Chandelier!" [Diana]

I just use a pretty spell that I worked on for Neloufa's performance. I love playing around with magic, especially to help Neloufa's performance, and this is one of the variations I created. It's supposed to be a non-offensive kind of magic, but I'm just making it an offensive kind and shooting it from above the puppet at high speed, causing the puppet to break.

"Oops..." [Diana]

"The..."

"Puppet..." [Mara]

"Is gone..." [Kara]

"I know you're strong... But not this strong..." [Neloufa]

"I hope Nar and Sas didn't take it out of my wallet." [Diana]

Well, there goes the teacher, trying to get a new puppet. While he's gone, the others quickly surround me, asking me how I did it and asking me to teach them the spell. I'm not very good at explaining, and I can't tell them that it's because of the fairy spring that activates my dormant ability.

"Then how about I teach you some practical spells while you wait for that muscleman to come back with a new puppet" [Merlin].

"Teacher Merlin!" [Tio]

"Miss Tiara too" [Marianne]

"Better than doing nothing, I suppose" [Adnan].

Master Merlin begins to teach us three spells. Wind Dash Spell, Light Ball Spell, and Scream Spell. For those who are unable to use wind and light, she teaches us the variant derived from a neutral spell.

"Excuse me, teacher, but aren't these spells for running away? Aren't you going to teach us an offensive one?" [Adnan]

"You are still weak, so I will teach you these spells so that if you get into trouble, you can at least try to save yourself" [Merlin].

"Master Merlin, you can use all the elements like me?" [Diana]

"Not really, but my equipment allows me to" [Merlin].

(I forgot that Diana is someone from the Aru Village. I wonder if the head of Aru Village knew about her current whereabouts) [Tiara]

And now we all tried to follow Master Merlin's lead. Sprinting with Wind Dash spell or it's neutral spell variant Double Dash, Light Ball or the neutral spell variant Neutral Blind and Scream spell, calling for help. Since I can do all this in one go, Master Merlin and Ms. Tiara asked me to lead others as well, which I did. To spice things up a bit, I used earth magic to create an obstacle, which honestly looks kind of fun. So much so that I wanted to join them in this instance.

"Hey! What are you two doing? Trying to sabotage my precious time with my disciple! How dare you try to take away the essence of magic by telling them to run away at a young age!"

"Oh, muscle man, you're back" [Merlin].

"I have a real name, you commoner!"

"Sorry, it is not our intention to take away your precious time with the students, in fact, by teaching them magic while you are away, they will become even more spirited when you are ready to teach them, don't you think?" [Tiara]

"Uh... Yes! That's right."

(He obviously has a crush on her) [Merlin]
